The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) strives to become the most preferred school in Asian to deliver excellent strategic business education for students pursuing managerial positions in the hospitality, tourism, and real estate industries. The Center for Hospitality and Real Estate Research (CHRER) was established under SHTM with the mission to conduct and promote high quality research, executive education, and service to the hospitality and real estate industries.

In this issue, we proudly announce the change of programme title of SHTM’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Programme in “Hotel and Tourism Management” to BBA in Hospitality and Real Estate.

We highlight CUHK team’s victory in the 2016 Cornell International Real Estate Case Competition (CIRECC) in New York in November 2016.

In the Research Achievement section, we feature Dr. Miju Choi’s research study titled “Examining the Factor related to Tourists’ Perceived Value of Shopping Tourism”, which was awarded the Rising Scholar Award in the 80th International Conference on Tourism organized by Tourism Sciences Society of Korea in July 2016.

In the Featured Research section, readers may find a summary of Prof. Lisa Wan’s research study in progress titled "The Influence of Incidental Similarity on Consumers’ Causal Attributions and Reactions to Observable Service Failures Across Cultures”.

Last but not least, we report the two career fairs organized by SHTM in the spring semester 2016.

We wish you a healthy and prosperous Year of the Rooster!
